The ICON of Our Lady of Charity of Cuba will be honoured at our
Family Hour of Prayer to be held at St. Mary’s on Thursday, May 1
starting at 7:00pm. The ceremony includes praying of the Holy Rosary and
booklets will be available to follow along with the program, which usually
lasts approximately 45 minutes. Bring your friends – all Parishioners
are invited to join the celebration.
The ICON has been received from the Hope Council 10918 and we will
be responsible to pass it on to Archbishop Johnson Council 6767 in
Abbotsford, who requires it for the period May 7 to 13.
This year’s program is being offered for the intentions of Pope
Benedict XVI. At the program’s conclusion in September, a book will be
prepared and presented to the Holy Father listing all the prayer services
held in the District and the number of people who participated.
NATIONAL
MARCH FOR LIFE – VICTORIA
Thursday,
May 8, 2008
This event is planned to take place in conjunction with the National March
for Life held each year in Ottawa. It begins with 11:00am Mass at St.
Andrew’s Cathedral followed by a march to the Legislature. A bus,
arranged by the Chilliwack Pro-Life office, will be departing from St.
Mary’s parking lot at 6:30am and returning from Victoria at 5:00pm. To
reserve a seat on the bus or for more information, please call the
Pro-Life Office at 604-795-3091.
A Note from the State Deputy, Tuesday, March 11, 2008:
“The
March for Life scheduled for 08 May will soon be upon us. This event has
taken on a life of its own and is growing far beyond our expectations; we
are extremely pleased at the reception we are receiving for this inaugural
March.
However, your State Council will be incurring expenses we had not
counted on, for example hiring police officers to protect our marchers. We
have a Life Issues Fund that we would use to pay these expenses but the
Human Rights Tribunal has almost cleaned out this account.
I know we have asked a lot of you this year, but if your council or
any individual member is willing to contribute to the Life Issues Fund,
please send a cheque to the State Treasurer at your earliest
opportunity.”
